Engage by Uplift
Our video series Engage by Uplift tackles the difficult issues the YouTube community faces, using real talk for real change. Each week, Kat Lazo discusses abuse and how it uniquely manifests in virtual spaces. Watch and collaborate with us through calls to action, and join in with some of your favorite YouTubers as they consider the issues in round table discussions. Convention Programming and Booths
At Vidcon, we’ll be holding an open discussion on Saturday the 25th at 9:30 AM in the Chill Lounge, right across from where our booth is located. We’ll be exploring the issue of safety in online communities. While you’re there, stop by our booth, pick up some merch, and sign the Safer Community Pledge! Co-Executive Director Katie Twyman will also be leading Being an Engaged Fan, a workshop on being a positive member of the Youtube community.
Visit us at GeekyCon at our booth in Charity Row. We’ll also be partnering with the Harry Potter Alliance to put on the program Engaging in Positive Fandom: A Discussion. Improving the world of fan engagement for everyone is important, and we want to have a conversation on how to do it with you.
The Safer Community Pledge
Big movements start with individuals. When many people make small changes in their personal lives, we create a place that’s safer and better for everyone. The Safer Community Pledge is a simple step people can take to stand up against sexual violence and harassment. We hope that this pledge encourages us to make small changes in our personal lives, and that it encourages us to continue discussing this critical issue. Take the pledge online!
